About a week ago, I posted on my FB page that I was in a "metallic and neutral" kind of mood. Well as a direct result of that I came up with my latest painting, a piece titled "Metallic Bark". I really like this painting. The gorgeous metallic colours shine in the light, the reflections are different from every angle. It's a really interesting painting, a little different from my normal colourful work, but it's nice to step out of the box and do something different. But then again, what is "normal?" This is the year to try new things and to step outside of the comfort zone of everyday life. Come on, lets all give it a go, try something new, you never know you may just like it!
I know 2014 is barely underway, but it's so nice to be able to complete my first painting of the year.
"Emerge" is about entering a new year with fresh hope, it's about a feeling deep down in your centre that tells you that good things are on their way and that it's going to be a great journey.
"Emerge" allows greens, blues, reds, pinks and oranges to play with each other in a cloud of soft fairy floss. I hope you enjoy it.
It's day 4 of the New Year, and it already feels to me like things are in full swing. It's so exciting and I feel like there's a special buzz in the air. Do you feel it too? From comments I've read, 2013 was a bad year for many people (me included) so I think there is a lot of hope and expectation from 2014, let's hope it can deliver.
I would love for this to be a positive year for everyone, and I'd love to know about anything positive that happens to YOU. Please tell me know about the great things, no matter how big or small.
On a professional note, I'm really happy to have been notified that two of my paintings (Aqua Fusion & Red Sea) will be displayed at the Mornington Art Show from 18-27 January at the Peninsula Community Theatre. It's a huge thrill.
For now it's back to the studio!
